Valletta, Malta's beautiful capital, is full of history, culture, and delicious food. Walking through its charming streets, I discovered some amazing places to eat, recognized by the Michelin Guide. Here are my personal favorites that I think you must visit.
1. Noni
Noni is a gem in Valletta. It's in a restored 16th-century building, and the atmosphere is cozy and elegant. Chef Jonathan Brincat creates dishes that mix modern cooking with traditional Maltese flavors. I loved the rabbit liver parfait and the fresh seafood. The stone walls and stylish decor made my dinner feel special.
2. Under Grain
Under Grain is another standout. It’s located under the Rosselli AX Privilege Hotel. Chef Victor Borg serves French-inspired dishes that are beautifully presented. I tried the tasting menu, which included foie gras and duck, and it was amazing. The intimate setting and excellent service made it a night to remember.
3. ION – The Harbour
ION – The Harbour is on the rooftop of the Iniala Harbour House, and the view of the Grand Harbour is stunning. Chef Alex Dilling’s Mediterranean dishes are fantastic. I especially enjoyed the perfectly cooked fish and the chocolate dessert. Watching the chefs in the open kitchen was a fun bonus.
4. Rampila
Rampila, even though it doesn't have a Michelin star, is in the Michelin Guide for good reason. It's located within Valletta's historic bastions, with a great outdoor terrace. The menu focuses on fresh, local ingredients. I had the braised octopus and traditional rabbit stew, both delicious. The wine list was impressive too.
5. Risette
Risette is a small but fantastic place in Valletta. The menu changes with the seasons, so everything is fresh. Chef Andrew Borg’s dishes are not only tasty but also look like works of art. The modern decor and open kitchen made the dining experience feel very special.
